New ID: Christian Eating Disorder Support Group

Find Freedom from Disordered Eating

New ID is a six-week, virtual, Christian support group designed to provide community and care for those struggling with eating disorders and their loved ones, and to share the message that complete freedom from an eating disorder is possible. With a simple format of teaching, testimonials from people who are recovered, group discussion and prayer, the course will guide you through the recovery journey.

**This group is run from a Christian perspective, but open to all who wish to join.

Who is eligible for New ID?

New ID is offered to anyone 14+ who is struggling with disordered eating and food and body image issues, or family members who support a loved one who struggles. Group sizes typically range from 8 – 20 attendees.

How is the course run?

Currently all courses are currently being held virtually through Zoom and are available for community members to access nationwide. The New ID course is designed to be run in a group setting and is not currently available for individual use.

What is the cost?

The cost for the course starts at $99 with scholarships and sliding scale opportunities available. As a general policy, we do not issue refunds for Set Free and our other faith support groups. New ID is founded on the belief that freedom from disordered eating is possible. Join us to experience if for yourself!

The goal of New ID is to help you identify what is holding you or your loved one back from breaking free from disordered eating, so that you can find freedom and live your life to the full. Please note: The New ID course is not a replacement for eating disorder clinical treatment and is only meant for support (click here to view Rock’s therapy groups).

About the Founder: Kim Hemsley, founded New ID in 2003 by drawing from her own personal experience of struggling with an eating disorder for 10 years to create. She created the New ID course to show how she walked through recovery and came out the other side, completely free. The New ID course material came from a collaboration of Hemsley, two counselors and a nutritionist.

New ID Attendee Testimonial:

“The New ID program gave me the community and fellowship I was missing in my recovery, especially as Covid made isolation more acceptable and appealing every day. Each week, I felt challenged, loved, and inspired to keep fighting for a life of freedom from this crippling disorder.”
